Firstly, my heart goes out personally to Larry Eustachy following the death of his Mother. We all know how difficult that must be.

I do NOT wish Larry any ill-will. But just HOW LONG is "...we're young...." and "...we're building a program...." going to be acceptable?

Here's what I REALLY think, guys. I do NOT dislike Coach Eustachy, but I do not think USM is a "fit" for him. He's got friends throughout coaching and could land a top assistant job at most anytime - to continue his "healing" process. In the meantime, the men's basketball program at USM - once a source of pride, fun, and competitiveness - is none of those things.

Ding...ding...ding....USM just fired a football coach who'd given his adult life to that program and had double digit winning seasons in a row and double-digit post season appearances!

Honestly, Gus, I was at the Tulane game on Saturday, and it was great. The best game (well really the only game) I had been to in quite a long time. I thought they played very well. Granted, Coach needs to get them playing a lot better, but I think the truth of the matter is that the team IS really young.

My point, guys! They ARE young...they were YOUNG last year, most of them left. They are YOUNG this year, most of them will leave. So they will be YOUNG again next year.

PLUS, take a look at the lineups of teams in the CUSA, SEC, etc....go ahead, spend some time doing it. See what you see about "youth." Division I college basketball teams do NOT recruit players today who are not going to step in and play.

So, how long are we going to be "young"?
