there I am also."

My sweet little nephew, Preston has been in UMC. He is 4. His platelets feel to 2000, we should have a platelet level of 200,000. His immune system was interrupted by antibiotics for waterborn parasitic infection picked up at a petting zoo. He is recovering now. A prayer of thanksgiving is in order.
My teenagers are on the road ( BB on his first big date) in this weather. Please remember them.

Flowergirl, I'm so glad your nephew is recovering. I'll continue to pray for him and a speedy recovery.
Prayers being said for your children (teens). Everytime they leave the house, a mother can't help but worry. They are in God's protecting hands - that's always my prayer!

Hubby has been up all night with a high fever, chills and joint aches. It appears to be the flu. Please remember him in your prayers.
Also, remember Guru. He mentioned a couple of times yesterday on the forum that he was not feeling well. I tried to call and check on him yesterday afternoon and didn't get an answer, however, I do not have his cell phone number. Perhaps some of you do and can follow up and make sure he is ok and let us know.
Let's remember the traveling families and the lonely and less fortunate this morning as well. Most of all, less be thankful for our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Flowergirl, thanks for mentioning those requests. I'm praying that your hubby and Guru are on the mends and will be all better soon.
In addition to those you've mentioned, let's remember those who are serving in the military and are away from their families this year. I thank them for their sacrifices so I can be safe and enjoy this holiday with my family without fear.

Please join me in prayer for a friend that is as close to me as a brother could be. Clem Viola was in a motorcycle wreck and is in very critical condition in a hospital in Shreveport, La. I was told that he has lost a leg and the Drs. are still undecided about one of his arms. They are trying to get him stabilized and keep him alive for the time being. Pease add him to your prayer lists. Clem is very close to our Lord and we have had many good discussions and bible studies together. Thank you for your prayers!

Other than having a massive hangover that has left me feeling like a cat without whiskers most of the day.......the other reason I haven't posted all day is that I found out on the way home from camp, that a friend of mine passed away this morning after a long bout with cancer.....
He was a former boss of mine.....Like most bosses, I didn't always like him and we butted heads on more than one occasion, but I always respected him and he made me a better coach and, more importantly, a better person during the times I worked for him at two different schools....
He leaves behind a wife, a son (who plays for the Tampa Bay Bucaneers), a daughter (who is in college), the high school team in Georgia he was coaching, and a whole host of former players and assistant coaches he influenced in over 30 years of coaching.....
Please keep his family and friends in your prayers....

Thanks Queen Mother. This surgery didn't involve my aorta this time. They did a femoral-femoral bypass. I have a plastic tube connecting my artery from the right side of upper groin to the left groin area. I guess the piece is probably 6 inches running across me. The first surgery in March was the aorta - femoral stents.
You also are recovering from your heart surgery-take care and my prayers are for all who need them.

The following appeared in the Hattiesburg American. I thought it was worth posting here.
Writer offers a Prayer for Our Nation
By Rodney Sessions
It has been my custom in writing this column for the past 10 years to start off the New Year with a prayer. This year I offer a prayer for our nation.
Dear God to you, who created both heaven and earth, we offer this prayer for our nation. Help us as a people to ever be mindful from whence we came and of the sacrifices of those who came before us.
Let us ever be mindful that the weakness of a nation's people is a greater threat to the survival of a nation than the strength of its enemies. Be with each American so that we may be more responsible citizens of our nation, and at the same time help us to realize that we are also citizens of the world that we share with over 6 billion other people.
History lessons
Let us not forget the lessons of history so that we do not keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again. Help us to not depart from the values and principles that this great nation was founded upon.
Help us to work on nurturing the growth of our wisdom so that it may keep pace or exceed the development of our knowledge, for knowledge without wisdom can be a dangerous thing. Let us, as a people, strive to maintain our goodness, for it is upon our goodness that our greatness is founded.
Forgive us when we as a government and we as a people have failed to live up to the heritage passed down to us from the generations of Americans who came before us.
Let us ever be mindful of the dangers of ignorance, apathy, arrogance, and over indulgence. Be with us as we face both the challenges and opportunities that lie before us.
Let us as Americans be more responsible stewards of this beautiful land and world you have given us. Help us to ever be mindful that we only hold in trust your creation for our children who will come after us. Let us think not only of ourselves, but also of others with whom we share this world.
Dear God let us ever be mindful that we are a "Government of the people, by the people, and for the people." Help each of us to use our individual gifts, talents, and resources to maintain the goodness and greatness of our nation.
One nation
Help us to remember that we were founded as "One nation under God" and that "A nation divided against itself cannot stand."
Father we ask You, Who art the Alpha and Omega, to help us enter this New Year with a renewed commitment to maintain and preserve the virtues and principles upon which this great nation was built. Let us have the courage to speak out against that which is wrong, and the boldness to stand up for that which is right.
Dear God we ask for thy forgiveness, guidance and blessings upon us and our nation. Help us to live our lives in faith not fear. Help us to live with joy in our hearts and hands extended to others. God bless America in this New Year. Amen.

That is the truth if we are not UNITED we will not stand! Our friendship or leadership will fall if we can not agree. of course that was already said.
Here is another sad truth...today...folks don't know whats morally right or wrong...did Satan sneak in and pull some wool over our eyes? I think so!
To you Lord be the glory, to you Lord be the praise...Lord I lift your name on high!! Thanks for being a good God and a just God...and for always being there...always!!!
Abba, Father I ask that you not let Satan deceive me, help me not to be blown by every wind that breezes by. I want to know Father when I have sin even if it hurts....I want to know the truth...cause you said the truth will set me free.
I ask too Father that you will prick the hearts of your children, my children and remind them what sin is and that sin will take them down a road that is fill with despair and that sin only brings temporary happiness and not the true joy that comes from living a selfless life! and Father I ask for forgiveness of the sins that are in my life...I want to live a life that is pleasing to you...take this desire to be selfish away...Thanks Jesus, thank for forgiving me again and again...one day Father I will get it right! I love you so very much!!
Jesue you Rule!! Amen

I don't know if you all recall my requesting prayer for my 4 year old nephew, Preston, last month or not, but he is ill again, and I am once again calling on you all to join me in asking our Lord to heal him
Last month Preston's young mother, my youngest sister, took him to the doctor for a "rash". It was petechia( small hemorrhages under the skin, when I saw him he looked like he had been beat to a pulp! Black and blue.) and upon further investigation, Preston was found to have a critically low platelet count(<10000, should be 200,000).
Six weeks prior to Preston's illness, he contracted Cryptosporidia- a waterborn parasite from a petting zoo in Jackson and was treated with Avelox ( strong antibaterial medicine).
After much more investigation, UMC hemotologists and pediatric specialists concluded that Preston's immune system had been "destroyed" by the parasite and the antibiotics. He was successfully treated with immunoglobulins and went home 3 weeks ago, his platelet count over 200k.
My younger sister just called to say that Preston's platelets had leveled off and then started dropping again and that he was now back down to around 30,000 and would be admitted to the hospital for further treatment and possible spleen removal later this week. ( Spleen isn't functioning appropriately due to Crypto and Antibiotics.)
I sure hope the Doc's are on the right track. I trust they are.
Please remember little Preston and his family.

They can, but in a youngster they would rather convince their little bodies to produce their own(in his case anyway). The IG's will help with the platelet production.

This is a very very sad story and prayer request. A friends sister in Il. needed surgery to remove a tumor from her bladder. She is so horribly obese the doctors cannot cut through the fat to get to the tumor. She began chemotherapy this week because the doctors are thinking this will reduce her weight drastically very quickly. This poor girl has no hope no faith, and no belief whatsoever. Her sister Debbie is all she has left in her family and this is taking a great deal out of Debbie watching her sister go through this with no mental hopes, or belief in prayer. Please say a prayer for this family as the ill sister id only about 40 years old.

New one - My best friend Sgt Jimmy Rollins and his wife are here in their motorhome parked at my place while they visit and he attends a school at Camp Shelby.
Last night around 2300 after leaving our house, he had what appeared to be a heart attack. He's only 45 and in good shape for his age but job is very stressful. He's been in the ANG over 20 years, been to Iraq once and due to deploy again later this year.
I talked to our old friend, Noway, last evening as I was building fire under AAA's butt to hurry it up. He was transported to FGH and has been in ICU getting all kinds of test run. So far they haven't found anything but this guy don't have phantom pains.
Please put him and his wife, Mary Ellen, on your prayer lists. He's like a younger brother to me, and a really good, good man.

Your prayers were heard people. My friend, Sgt Jimmy Rollins, came through all the tests with flying colors. So, we don't know what happened, it was a first.
Perhaps it was my cooking and a bad case of indigestion, but I fed him the same leftovers when he got out the ICU the next day just to check and it didn't phase him so it wasn't my soul food at fault.
Also, you're being heard on the smoking cessation issue. The Chantix really does seem to lessen the craving and I have tapered off, considerably. My new doc changed my meds and I seem to be doing much better, but still knocking on wood as I say this. The cig addiction has to be as bad as crack cocaine or heroine. I've never had anything squeeze my package like the dang cigs.
Thanks much for your thoughts and prayers.

Please remember a dear friend of mine that has battled breast cancer for a number of years. She had one breast removed, then after about 5 years had to have the second removed. She has stayed on chemo for several years, and had almost decided to quit when her first grandchildren were born and decided to stick it out a while. The grandchildren are two now and not old enough to remember her, but the cancer moved to her lungs and she now has some other tumors elsewhere. She is presently in the hospital, but as she is a very private person, I'm not sure just how bad it is....but I do know that it's not good. Say a prayer or two for her. Thanks in advance to all of you "prayer horses" out there....

I know what you pray for countrygirl - you pray for God's mercy.
When my husband had cancer, I had a very dear friend who prayed non-stop with me for my husband's healing. She was a tremendous prayer warrior. And she gave me such strength. Near the end, when things seemed at their worst, she sent me a note that simply said, "We've prayed for God's healing - now it's time to pray for God's mercy."
I was so angry because I felt she had given up. But, when I changed my prayers to praying for God's mercy, the most wonderful things happened - the peace He sent was indescribable and the way He let my husband's death unfold was beautiful and the way He prepared all of us was nothing short of a miraculous blessing.

When I found out that my mom had cancer, all I could do was cry...I prayed so hard for it not to be so...after I found out it was really bad...I just prayed that the Lord would not let her suffer..that it would be quick..I would ask the Good Lord to "please make my mom better but if you can't do that, PLEASE do not let her lay around and suffer."
After my first prayers she lasted about 3 years more...never once looked sick. Alot/most people who get cancer looks "sick", looses weight etc..she never did...she was up and out in the yard everyday except the days that were close to the chemo treatments...she would be too tired then but she kept trying to do. After I found that the chemo wasn't doing any good...I again prayed she would not be in any pain. To my knowlege, she never was except for mild headaches..the only thing for pain I know she took was tylenol. The day she died she seemed to be fine...laughing and cutting up and fussing at me...when it happened, it happened quick...within ten minutes she was gone...and I was there with her holding her hand.
After the funeral, when I got around to clearing out some of her things...I went through all her meds, NEVER did I find any meds for pain. God was surely good to her and he certainly blessed me...
Anyway, prayers going up for all!

QM, seeing this sure does make me miss you and your guy. I always respected you because you often spoke of your husband in such a way that I could tell you missed him, but you really have had a great peace about it and that showed through you. You always spoke of the funny times or the good times.
Cancer is tough. When mom told me she had breast cancer I was terrified. But, thankfully, it wasn't her time. God let us keep her. My grandfather, on the other hand, isn't doing too well. He is getting sicker and sicker every day. But, when my brother (the youth minister) went to see him, he asked Jacob to pray for him. That's the first time I've ever heard him say anything religious.

God, alone knows the reasons why we are tested, why there are times in our lives when the forces of evil dominate and seem to control our brief moments upon thiis earth. Pain and suffering become commonplace, and our faith becomes the dividing line between things of THIS life, as opposed to things promised us, by His Word.
Right now, I ask for your prayers, that the sorrow in my heart, the grief, the question: "Why?", be reduced to faith: That all things come to those who believe, that Satan comes at us from the most tender parts of our time on this earth, that, as Ecclestiases reminds us: ALL is vanity under this sun. That there is a time, and a purpose, under God's heaven.
I've lost my daughter. The sorrow and pain is not abating. I pray, somehow, that this will cease. Never, in my 60 years upon this earth, has my heart been so broken.
Please include me in your prayers. Include HER, that her eyes may be open, that she realize that I gave her life, cherished her life, would die for her life, but.... her heart is hardened. Pray for me. Pray for her. Pray for my grandsons, who I'll not see again, until their eyes are opened.
I come to you this morning broken in spirit. Tested, and found wanting.
Than you, so much.

Aunt called this morning talked w/hubby...advised mamaw was a little worse than yesterday.
MIL left shortly after and hubby talked to her about 1 hour ago and things are the same.
Hubby & I went up on Friday to visit her and to say our good-byes. Hubby got really upset...which I excepted that.
We went to church this morning and something happened (don't know) but when we got home hubby was ok with everything. I guess he and God had a nice chat in church. He was at peace with letting her go now.
That really makes me feel better. I was worried.

I posted about this in the other forum, but I figure that it can't hurt to ask more people to pray about this for me.
My husband's niece was recently diagnosed with colon cancer. She is only 35. She and her family (husband, son, mother, etc) all live in England. We've only become recently aware of this new section of his (my husband's) family in the last 3 or so years. They had originally planned on doing the surgery on the cancer a few weeks ago, but she became sick and they put it off to make sure it didn't develop into pneumonia. The second time the scheduled the surgery that discovered that the cancer has attached to her ribs and that to remove it, they would have to break her ribs. (I'm not all that up-to-date on medical techniques, so If I mis-state something in this next part please forgive me.) They are going to be doing something called radio therapy (?) and try to remove the cancer using a laser. If that is unsuccessful, they are going to start chemotherapy and try to shrink it.
Please pray for her and her family (both here and abroad). Also, please pray for guidance for the doctors and that the Lord will guide their hands. Also, please pray that if she and her family have not accepted the Lord into their lives, he will find away to bring them to him. Thank you.

Also please remember a special friend, Ret. Capt. Richard Bufkin of the Hburg police dept. He has been very sick and has a long road to recovery. Please be in prayer for Retired Police Capt. Richard Bufkin. He passed away yesterday afternoon at FGH. He had been sick for several months with unknown illness. A few days ago the Dr. decided that Richard possible had liver cancer.
Richard had retired as Capt. then return as a civilian to be the Evidence Man for HPD.
Richard will be truely missed by all who knew him.

Prayers for all in need. My last surgery 2 weeks ago went okay. We are hoping for my arteries to start producing other arteries (offshoots) to help with my problem now. Another surgery would be one that is not really done so there are no stats if it would work or for how long. So that is out of the question for now. I have to take pain pills to be able to exercise-lol. Sorry I haven't been on in so long. Prayers go out for all in need.

I talked to Elle earlier today...she sounded alot better than yesterday...she was complaining about how uncomfortable the bed was. She had just gotten back from having her leg veins "mapped" so they will know which veins to harvest for the surgery on Tuesday...
Don had gone downstairs to eat breakfast. Of course he is still a mess but she said he was doing a little better. Seems so far our prayers are helping...I ask everyone PLEASE to keep them going....it is going to be a loooooong weekend and week. I will post more when I hear more.
I am not for sure they will let them use cell phones in the hospital....they used to have a ban on them.

I spoke with both Don and Elle today just before noon. Both sounded ALOT better than they had sounded. Elle was rather upbeat...she said she felt good but was just tired of laying there..She is allowed to get up, go to the bathroom and sit in the chair.
She told me the doc came in earlier this morning and said all the test on the veins in her legs looked good and he did not forsee any problems. He told her she was in good health other than the blockages and was a "young" woman and not to worry so much...he expects things to go smoothly. He did tell her she would probably hate him for a couple of months...She wasn't for sure why...I told her "when you are cut from can to can't and it hurts to move with the staples, you will understand his reasoning!" He told her she would have to take it easy for several weeks but within about 6 to 8 weeks she should be as good as new and back at work.
There were not any blockages in her neck according to what he told her today. She said they plan on taking her to surgery around 6-6:30 on Tuesday.
Ya'll just PLEASE keep the prayers going up..we all know that they DO work. Don was more settled today...he will probably be a mess on Tuesday though so add him to the prayer list too. I will post more when I talk to them again. I try not to get in touch too much..they BOTH need as much rest and sleep as they can get...neither will get much in the next few weeks. I told them both everyone is asking about them and sending up good prayers and good wishes.

After today they will not be in the same room. Elle will be in ICU for at least one day then she will go to another room...you could just send it to Elle Gill, FGH or send it to Donanelle's and Ande' could take it up to the hospital to her.
The hospital will look up her room number once she is in a regular room and they will transfer the card to her new room.

I just got home after spending a good portion of the morning at the hospital with Hawk and Ande'. Elle's surgery went VERY good...she got to ICU a little after two...Hawk and Ande' were going back to see her.
The doctor came in to talk to us after he was done while she was being prepped to go to ICU. He said the surgery went VERY well..no problems at all. He took veins from her legs and some from her chest for the bypasses. He did 5 bypasses. He told us she would be out like a lite until around midnite or a little after and they would then start cutting back the meds to let her wake up. At that time they will start talking to her, asking questions so she can blink at them that she understands things, if she understands what they are asking/telling her, they will remove the breathing tubes. She is already off the heart/lung machine...which is VERY good.
The doc said she would be in ICU for at least one day, maybe two and then she would be assigned a new room. I would imagine she will be up and walking by the weekend.
Don asked me to tell each of you THANK YOU for the prayers and good wishes that have been sent. He said the family reallllly appreciates your concern more than you will ever know!
Don and Ande' were going in to see Elle so I left...he told me he was going home to mess around in his garden a little bit before dark (to release some stress) and to wash up and change clothes. He looks good and did very well himself..he looks tired but that is to be expected. I told him to lay down for awhile and maybe he could get a good nap before he goes back for late visiting hours.
Anyway, keep the prayers going...it takes several weeks to get to feeling better after the surgery...there is still a big hill to climb but with all the good wishes, things will be ok. I will post more as soon as I hear. I can tell you that Elle had two good doctors and both are christians....so between them and the Good Lord she was in the best of hands!

Whew! Thanks everyone from the bottom of hour hearts for you prayers, concern and kindness.
Ande' and I saw Ms Elle awake this morning at 6 AM. They had her sitting up to help the chest tubes drain. She' still on all kinds of IV stuff and some good dope but they had removed the mouth tube and she could whisper a little. She
s sore as heck but with the medication, prolly won't remember this mornings visit.
If all continues good today, she'll be moved to a Tier-2 CCU room late this evening or early tomorrow morning.
ICU visiting is 10AM, 2 PM, 6PM and they only let you in for about 15 minutes but my instinct is that she prefer not having too much visitation until she's feeling a little better. And if you have the slightest of sniffles, hold off on visitation.
Again, thanks tons for all the support and kindness. God bless all your sweet hearts.

The doc was not coming in until later today and said he would remove the leads from her so she could get a shower. Hawk said the doc also said IF she continues to improve and no problems she "may" get to go home either Friday or Saturday....and at least by the first of the week.
They will have her sitting in a chair and walking the halls as much as she possibly can. That is to get the blood going good. We must continue the prayers because I know she will feel better at home. I will post more when I hear more.

FishingGirl please let us know that your husband is still doing well.
If any of you get a chance please give a thought to my cousin's wife. They retired to move down here from Jackson and it appears among other ailments that she has a very severe case of diverticulitis (sp?).
There has been leakage into the body cavity and various functions have shut down or in the midst of shutting down.
This is a very frustrating time for me from the outside looking in.
At first response you wish to remind everyone to do what your doctor tells you and sometimes you wonder if that was the best thing.
Our days here are few, I guess we just do the best we can and hope that things will work out in our favor.

I'd like to thank each of you for your thoughts about my cousin's wife. Sometime or other last night she took a turn for the better which is not saying much but it will allow them to perform some CT thing tomorrow if all continues well tonight.
You just never know what is coming next in the mortal world. My cousin's wife got really sick on Friday, next thing she is in the hospital turning blue and full of body poison and all her organs are shutting down because that's what the body does when things really hit the fan so the heart and brain can keep functioning.
So, he woke up Saturday morning on his 68th birthday, him and his fraternal twin brother, and this was also the day of their 50th class reunion.
Anyway, after the kidney flush and all the very strong antibiotics they are pumping into her maybe all that helped. They say her organs should restart since her upswing.
Similar thing happened to a neighbor of ours just a few weeks ago. Of course she is 29 and that is a whole different thing, but they had to sew a hole up in her intestine and she is all well and out climbing trees now.
Thanks for all your thoughts, I'm working hard to repay all of you now.

I don't mean to bore you with details but sometimes it's good to have a little something as reference in case you run into it.
During the CT and the insuing results evalution they discovered she had a gallstone that was blocking her kidneys and somehow or other that was the cause of bodily assimilated fluids to escape into her body cavity.
Also, she has a kidney stone which was causing all her back pain.
This is actually good news in a sense because for one it leads them to believe she does not have an intestinal leakage into her body cavity and a gallstone can be removed.
They can also do something about her kidney stone.
They put socks on her hands and feet because they are still blue.
I just about freak out everytime the phone rings.
Here's to hoping through prayer that everyone in here has a positive and successful recovery.
