The NMAS played last night at the Bottling Co. HBMS!!!!
The night began with Alvin Youngblood Hart opening. It was a solo acoustic set, mostly on bottleneck slide guitar. Excellent delta blues for an ever increasing crowd...
There were three sets of microphones in the air, capturing the magic!
The allstars took the stage around 11pm to a large, not quite packed crowd.
It was guitarist Luther Dickenson's birthday, and energy was high. He has been selected for guitar duties on the upcoming Black Crowes tour, BTW. The band was in true form as they went thru the paces. Song selections included past staples, as well as songs from the upcoming album, Hernando. Alvin Youngblood Hart joined onstage early on and remained for the duration! This resulted in some excellent backing guitar as well as dual slide work pleasing to the eyes and ears! Stones cover song thrown in for good measure. Set ended just after 1:30am.
The crowd was energetic, the beer was cold, and the music was incredible. With three audio sources, should be some good music for the player this week. Can't wait to hear it again and relive the excitement of live music.
Little sleep, work day, nursing some coffee. Gonna play, gotta pay. Rough on an old man. Well worth it. Your never to old to rock and roll!!! Looking forward to MOFRO on the 25th. Live music lives in Hattiesburg. Thanks, BoCo.!
Can't describe it, so all I can say is, You Should Have Been There!!!!
