They are getting there slowly but surely.

I went to a lecture at USM by the embryologist Ian Wilmut in 1997. His lab was the first example, Dolly the sheep, of cloning from adult cells. This experiment used techniques similar to his.

You guys don't think maybe human cloning has already been done? I don't know, just curious. It's pretty obvious this research has been going on under the radar for a very long time.

Cite the source, Hawk. Gov. funding in the u.s. has been banned for years. Private funding and overseas research continues. The S. Korean experiments were a hoax. If it happens, i would think they would crow about it in the form of publication. I just read the maybe in your post, so if it is just that, my apologies. I misread/ hurried thru. Yes i do believe the research goes on. I disagree ethically with using viable embryos. Hence my objection to gov. funding of same. As to adult cell cloning, another matter. It will obviate the need for embryonic research.

Sanctity of life is paramount in my opinion.

I don't agree with cloning a whole human....there are just too many "mistakes" along the way. I do agree with going forward with cloning research. Having a grandchild with a congenital heart defect, it would be nice for them to be able to clone a replacement valve, or even a heart if need be in the future. Transplants from others are not the answer for children...there are so few hearts, livers, kidneys ect available, and you would be just exchanging one problem for another. This research could provide answers to so many things...
