Inevitably we all have our bands that we listen to that we think are absolutely the best.

Even more, we all sit around and wonder why our fav bands are not more popular than they are...which is an absolutely rotten shame.

Personally, that band for me is Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers.

Also, the majority of Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers used to be known as 'The Refreshments' and they are equally as badass.

I liked Mekong, that was the first time I'd ever heard it. They remind me a lot of Drivin' n' Cryin', another underrated band.

Didn't the Refreshments do the theme for "King of the Hill"?

Here ya go. Drummer Cedric is the grandson of the late, great R.L. Burnside and can burn up a drum set and sing. Lightnin' Malcolm is an excellent guitarist. He also does "one man band" shows. From Clarksdale via Italy! Both nice guys and a pleasure to hang out with.

They will be in Hattiesburg next month.

The incomparable Jimbo Mathus. Tacky AND unrefined. Backup guitarist for the touring Buddy Guy. Played on award winning album "Sweet Tea". Guitarist for the Squirrel Nut Zippers, touring now. Met all these guys playing here. See him Feb 1 at Bennies Boom Boom room!
