Anybody heard anything about when they are going to repave this log road?

Are you talking about the area where Craft Auto Sales and the auto repair shop are? If so, I think they had a huge re-paving project, along with putting in some things for drainage, maybe 7 or 8 years ago. (I'm just guessing how long ago, as I'm not real good remembering actual time.)

If that's the case, I don't think there will be anything more than patch work done for at least the next several years.

Now, if you are talking about a different area than that, disregard the above! :D

P.S. I would love to find out who would be responsible for fixing the road on Bouie St. where Shemper's uses several of the rail cars and hauls them back and forth across the street. If you don't go 5 mph or less, you could do some serious damage to your car! I would perhaps think that Shemper's would ultimately be responsible, but I wonder if any repairs on their part would have to be motivated by the City telling them to fix it?!

I'm talking about all the way from 49 to old downtown. It has been a log road ever since I was jetting around in convertibles with long hair and wasn't gray and it's still rough as a cob.

Guru, I was at a recent City Council meeting and Bennie Sellers said work will start in the near future..."I think" contracts have already been let....from my understanding alot of work will be done in the area from Walgreens to downtown.. I know they are planning on repairing some water/sewer lines as they go. It is well past due...I would also like to see some more green space added and some trees, after all that area is the gateway to downtown.

The area from Walgreens to S. 14th isn't too bad but from there on into town needs alot of revamping IMO..They should also make the "ice house" and the "car repair" places clean up their act...BOTH are disgraceful! It embarasses me to have to drive the area with out of town friends and relatives! The Burg can do better than that!

I think code enforcement needs to be revamped and laws on the books enforced!

I agree whole heartedly Maggie. My last great act of defiance before I have guests at the ranch is to get on the 4 wheeler and ride up and down the road picking up trash.

The old downtown area is seeing a resurgence, a lot of folks are spending a ton of money on the upgrades and besides all the money us locals spend down there supporting the businesses, we don't want to take our visitors on a joy ride to show off our gem and have to look at all that crap as we pass by.
Not to hamper anyone's business, but I too think they could do a little better job of cleaning up.
