Fish-Bait mentioned making a Geo Cache while on the Float Trip. I'm not real familiar with this game but think I understand a little something about it. I assume you make like a time capsule and some little prizes, then conseal it somewhere, note the GPS coordinates, then post it on the internet?????? If that's it, we could put a copy of this thread and a link to our site. When found the people can come on and talk with us. Do I have the right Idea? and if so, what can we put in the box?????? I can donate some Gambler Lure Product and some Sebile Baits.

Cool looks like you leave the cache there with several trinkets, the people take what trinkets they want and leave others and sign a log......I'm all for a Your Hattiesburg Cache.......We can call it the Fish-Bait Black Creek Cache Stash and dress it up like a treasure chest in BPitts and Pirate 129's honor!

The garmin e-trex series are user friendly, kinda like windows......the screen is rather small, most of them are small, the lowrance has a larger screen, but the one I have is older and I don't know much about the newer models.

I don't know but I do know it's in color.......I use a Lowrance iFinder for handheld. I'm more intuned with the Boat and Truck GPS though.

Rollin', I got a Garmin 76C last year for about 175.00. It is a discontinued model, but fully supported. I think they are on the 76Cx or Csx now. Look at the features and consider what you need. That model allowed me to get the Bluechart software, which has NOAA charts for coastal and offshore use. The color screen is a big plus for picking out details, as my friend had the previous non-color version.

The best prices I could find, after much searching, was from http://www.gpsonsale.com/

I've done some geocaching myself, with my ol' Garmin unit. Since I'm on the road a lot, I go to the above mentioned website and search for cache's near where I'm going or along my route. Then I just swing by and look for it if I have time. I've found one outside Tylertown going to Magnolia on a backroad, it was fun. There are a few scattered around the Smokies, now that'd be a blast to go and search for.

But the aforementioned website is good about listing those near you.

Oh, by the way, it has been rumored that someone was thinking about doing a cache at the Kamper Park Zoo, by tossing something into the alligator pond. Now, that'd I would not go searching for!

they are however very very very quick when it's hot outside..lol...We used to catch em' in the harbor in Pasem goula for the Marine Resources guys. They would take em' way back up the river. The longest one we ever caught was about 7 ft. and actually he wasn't that bad to deal with. Now the shorter ones...say 3-4 ft......those little dudes will bite you in a freakin' heartbeat!!!! They are super quick. If I tried foolin' with any of em' these days though I'd be toast in a new york minute.

Tell ya what Fishbait, I'll go find the cache in the gator pond, if you go with me, cuz I think I can outrun you, and they'd all stop once they caught you, and I, well, I could continue to RUN!
