I couldn't even make it outside today Nana! I tried, and when I finally was able to get the door open I was blasted in the face with driving snow and relentless winds. I could not even see my truck a few yards away. I promptly shut the door and came back inside... This is a pretty huge blow that we are in the middle of... the whole building is shaking and snow is coming in through the cracks. It might be like this for a few days up here. They have canceled all of the flights for the day and stopped all travel unless it is a life or death situation... Days like this are ok, because we all pretty much get to take a break... It is cleaning up the aftermath that is a pain. I will have to take some pictures for everyone. When it is a really bad blow, it covers the big trucks completely and we have to spend hours digging them out.

Sounds like a lot of hard work for a break. I just wouldn't survive it being that cold. I don't like cold and I complain enough about MS. Can't imagine what you are faced with there.

It is an adventure everyday up here nana! It was 50 below zero when I first got back up here last week, then it warmed up to around 20 above and now who knows what it is with all of this wind... the coldest that I have ever been in is 72 below ambient and over 100 below with the windchill factor... Bbrrrrrr! That is why I have my southern home so that I can thaw out on the farm!

You need the southern home to thaw for sure.

Baloo - how can you breathe in that kind of temperature? I know it must be beautiful, though!

Queen Mother, sometimes when it gets really really cold (colder than 30 degrees below zero ambient) it is actually somewhat painful to breath... It literally takes your breath away! This morning my truck had snow piled up to about the middle of the tailgate and higher than all of the doors and it is a 4 wheel drive F 350 Quad cab truck... I spent about 5 minutes trying to knock some of the snow off of it and then couldn't feel my fingers anymore, so I knew that I was in trouble... I gave up on it and will just have to wait until one of the guys comes by with a loader to dig it out for me... I did take a couple of pictures for you guys though and will post them as soon as I can. It is absolutely gorgeous out this morning, but it is still 47 below zero this morning...
