What is the most comfortable chair in your house or on your porch?

My recliner.

I have to admit as to rocking chairs, the standard all wood chairs, that my two white rockers on the back porch from Walmart are the most comfortable.

They come with some kind of white super paint on them and have never changed since I bought them although given they are under a big covered porch and no rain or sunlight has ever touched them.

It's hard to find a good rocker but that good rocker is like beauty, always in the eye of the beholder.

I like mine like I like my motorcycles, laid back and not sitting straight up like the gunner's seat in a 212 helicopter, lol.
My Mother on the other hand likes her's just that way due to what just feels right to her back.

To me the feet of a rocker just about tell the tale. Without what women would refer to as a shoe with a low heel, the rockers just don't lean back enough to give you that kicked back comfort.
I do think with a little grinder action that most rocker feet can be modified slightly just to give this extra little bit of recliner feel.

My recliner was king until Nana found these gliders at Doherty's. Now, I try to take over her roost. Gliders are de BOMB for comfort, especially if you get the accompanying glider ottoman. Doherty's is only place this side of Jackson dat gots dem.

My recliner has gotten better since she re-stuffed it with two pillow size bags of Dacron. They need dat every year to maintain support or dey make your spine curve into a "U", causing backache if you sit dem too long at one time.

I want to buy some gliders for de patio but dem dang tings is higher dan a cat's back.

I've got a "chair and a half" that is so comfortable. I can sit in it sideways, put my feet up across the arms, or just sit curled up nice and comfy. It has an oversize ottoman but I hardly use it cause my feet are always in the chair!

And, did I mention that it's my favorite color? - RED!!

I like those laid back low slung Adirondac chairs too for the back porch. If you want to go into major session and open a few spews and bs they are hard to beat. They don't rock or anything.

Just as a note: There is a guy and his wife that used to advertise in the Farm Market Bulletin telling they built cedar porch furniture, etc. They are around Seminary.

In the last few months they have opened a place beside the Ward's on Highway 49 in Seminary and have a slew of heart cedar furniture. Looks real good.

I have my granddad's old rocker that's over 100 years old. It's beautiful and ornate and sits good but the rocker radius have been worn almost flat, allowing very little rocking motion. I would recurve them but it would ruin the antique value. Every time I see a mental picture of him, he's sitting there carving a butter mold or something out of cedar by the wood heater.

If I got cold spew comfortable in one of those Adirondacs, Guru, I wouldn't be able to get up.

Nana got her one of those chair and a half things, but my dog has taken it over. He thinks its a dog cloud.

My wife's grandmother's old rocker is on the pattio in the same condition right now. I had someone try to recurve it but he told me it would make the rockers too thin....I need to check in on those gliders and chair and an half's

I have a rocking chair that was handmade by my Great Grandfather.
I used to love sitting in it out on the porch, but it's so old I'm scared I'll break it.

When I'm on the porch nowadays,I like my pawpaw's wooden swing.

I have one of those rocker/glider chairs in the den, however, I didn't get it at Doherty's. I have used that chair mostly to rock my granddaughter to sleep when she was a baby (now 7), and currently rock and sing to my grandson (5 months) in it. My husband had bought me a beautiful high back wooden rocker when I was pregnant with my youngest son (who is now 18), but it really isn't that comfortable, even though I bought the seat and back cushions. My mother currently has it in her den.

We have two of those as well, but we sanded them up a bit and painted them black for some reason that I can't remember now. Anyways, they're the best! We're probably the only people in our neighborhood that regularly sit on our front porch. Others drive by and we wave and they look at us like we're nuts. (We are, but they don't know that yet.)

* Hey, I've never thought about it until you posted this but what about hand grinding a replacement add on "sole" to the bottom of the rocker feet? I bet you and me, a grinder and piece stock of oak could hand fit a piece for each side, stain them to nearly match, secure them on and they would rock just like they did way back when.
Well worth a try if you got some time one day. Holler at me.

My favorite chair is my big ole distressed leather western style chaise lounge. We all fight over it- including Bigfoot!

I used to have a rocker I loved but it finally wore out after 50 years..it had become dangerous so I dumped it. I hope by mid-spring I can go to Cracker Barrel and get a couple of their rockers...they sit soooo good...I wish I had a front porch to put them on..

My little porch could hold one rocker but I would be afraid some idiot would come around at nite and steal it. I have alot of wrought iron chairs etc. in my gazbo...I am gonna take them out and put on the deck and put the rockers in the gazbo out of the weather. My mom had one of the glider chairs and I never liked it...it is in my sons storage unit.

You want to get it out of storage and sell it? I don't know what kind it is, like maybe the old iron ones we use to have on the patio, but these new cushioned ones made by the Amish working at Best Chair USA are the most comfortable thing my butt has ever sat. They're more potent than Ambien.

No, I am gonna hang on to it since it was my moms...Jr. will probably take it to his house when he gets his place...thanks for the offer tho.
