It is finished! Here are pics of the tree house my son and I just finished. Its mostly the same as the one described in 'The Dangerous Book for Boys', but I made some modifications (like simpson strong tie connectors for additional strength where on the horizontal supports). Now all i need to add are a coupe of PVC .50 cal machine guns, a 105mm recoilless, and spotting scope, and a pully & basket for supplies and it'll be fit for duty!

That is way cool. Way to go dad. He looks happy as can be. We bought those books for our kids this past Christmas. I guess I missed the part about the tree houses. I'll have to go back and look for it.

threekidspa, that is so awesome! The world needs more dads like you in it! Your son will tell his grandkids about the tree house that he helped his dad build and will relish the memories of the time spent in that tree house for the rest of his life! Great job!

Not to long ago HGTV had a special on about tree houses...and I mean BIG tree houses....it was awsome...some were actual living quarters...they really made me drool...most of the folks used them as weekend get-a-ways...a couple of the people lived in theirs year round....

Dude thats pretty sweet, no matter how old you are everyone loves tree houses, dont forget the water baloons though. Every fort needs defense ;)
