Hmmm...I was just wondering how many of you out there feel like "slow learners" when it comes to computers. I have really been trying for quite a few years.... It takes me forever to figure out how to do things and then I can't remember how I did it....I'm trying right now to hook up with my daughter and her kids on Windows Messenger so that we can send stuff on the webcam, but I'm soooo slow on doing this stuff. Anyone else out there have this problem?

I keep a notebook for making notes of all the things I do or try to do.

I got my first computer back in the early 90's. While she was trying to teach me to use it, she jokingly told me that rule number one was that there was a little man that lives inside the computer, and you do not want to make him mad! I sometimes believe her!

We've had home PC's for around 8 or so years now. There are more computers on the drilling rig I'm working on now than I've ever seen. People in that industry are being thrusted into the internet highway as a means of communicating with onshore facilities. I've seen men trying to peck their way through a report and learn computers on the job, with no formal training. I'm lucky I took typing in school ( thats where the girls were lol ) and that's the ONLY thing I have going for me. Everything I've learned is only what I needed to know to perform a spacific task, take me away from that path and I'm lost....

And I wish that little man in there would quit testing my patience. I have a glich and sometimes it just freezes up and I have to reboot. Such a pain in the a$$. :banghead:

Y'all, I saw in Sunday's or Saturday's paper that PRCC will be conducting FREE COMPUTER CLASSES. For those who really don't know much or just want to learn more. They had one dealing with like basic computing, one on internet, one on Word, etc. They start in February I think.

I just got off the phone with someone at PRCC. The classes are being sponsored by PRCC but will be held in conjuntion with the WIN Job Center people, thing, whatever it's called. They said the classes were free. The contact is Rebecca Brown, 601-288-7333. Go get EDUCATED!!

OK, I finally got my webcam set up so that I could make a video call to the grandsters in Ohio. We made the first call tonight and I could see them, but could never enable it so that they could view me....Maybe tomorrow night. My son in law, the computer guru, was out of town but did horn in on the conversation for a moment and mentioned bandwidth. What does bandwidth have to do with video calls, and would it be my computer or their computer that did not have the right bandwidth if they could not view me? Hmmm....I do wish that the little man that lives in my computer would be helpful now and then instead of causing problems.
It was really neat seeing the twins while I talked to them. We try and get up there about every 6 weeks, or at least meet them somewhere, but 6 weeks can be a long time for 2 year olds.

I don't see why bandwidth would be the reason why you couldn't get yours on. It would certainly affect the QUALITY of the video and audio once connected.
