Is this another sign of the times?

Do you think it would be helpful for Congress to increase energy taxes on such things as gasoline to further finance some ridiculous crap so you will have to cut back more, work longer toward retirement and enjoy the vision of more day to day welfare programs?

Does it really hurt or bother you that we have inept people in office that we are too apathetic to vote out and get someone else in?

Do you feel helpless because there is nothing you can do about it?

Why do only 33% of the citizens of this country go vote?

Have we set ourselves up with this welfare state mentality until more blows will be sustained by the average tax payer?

Have the "gimme" programs taken the lion's share of our taxes for so long that normal infrastructure maintenance in this country has been overlooked?

Are you enjoying this?

Doesn't it make you feel good to see 30-50 year old career students still getting grants?

Don't we need one more car at a red light with 24" wheels thumping some insane crap so that we can't even think enough to plan our next business stop so we can pay more taxes and finance more "crazy checks" for unuseful members of society?

If you can't pay your bills don't you with YOU could default on them and get them annuled?

Are you enjoying this?

As a fair spirited person don't you feel we need more money given to those that find it hard to deal with regular work?

Is it plausible for blanket rules to apply daily which allows "baby mama" to spit children out like rabbits but another single parent is struggling and just needs some temporary support to get their feet on the ground but can't?

Is it necessary to continue bleeding the tax base providers of this country, the blue collar and white collar workers, the corporations that employ them, so that we can continue throwing money at what amounts to a voting group demographic because politicians want to get votes from whomever they can?

Ok Humpty Dumpty, sit your fat a$$ up on the wall and watch life pass you by or jump down and go vote for a change.
You are slowly allowing the noose to tighten around your ignorant, apathetic neck.

A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.
The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:
From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

Rob, how about posting the link to that "deterioration of society" article you showed me? It's very telling and so hitting the nail on the head. I think if people here read it they would feel as I did, that they fog had lifted and there were words for our feelings.

*** That is exactly the one I'm talking about, the one you just referred to. How about posting the entire story?

have you seen the movie Idiocracy? it's not far off. our country encourages the procreation of a society that generally will not contribute to society, only continue to drain it... the longer we let this go on the more that people will think it's "owed" to then. remember new orleans after the storm?

i know a guy that went to prison to get his college education paid for... i have friends that have had a baby only to find out you get free insurance, food, and money as long as you don't work. as soon as you work, it all gets cut off. or, if you actually marry the father of the child, you also lose benefits. why aren't we helping the people that are trying to make it, instead of punishing them?

oh, so anyway, i totally agree with guru... however, we have been shown time and time again that our votes don't matter, or that we can't vote on things that matter to us. do you really think the smoking ban would've passed if there would have been a public vote on it?

That's just it, we don't live in a democracy, but if you ask most anybody on the street that's what they will say we live in....... I make this point all of the time. We live in a representative republic, where we vote on people to represent us. Unfortunately it doesn't take long before they are shoulder deep in the trough. If we did live in a democracy we would have to vote ourselves on all of these spending and appropration bills. A representative republic lends itself to the old "the squeaky wheel get's the grease." addage. The only problem is the working class isn't the ones squeaking.....we just keep chugging along and all of the minorities squeak to no end.

Personally I think people should apply for a license to procreate. And at each event.

RG, I can't believe you said it. It is what I allude to on my most ranting of posts. Conclusion: WE'RE F'ed. When the burden of taxation, etc, exeeds the motivation to work or produce, that is the end result. Why should I work, if i'm taken care of either way??? If i didn't have children, it would be different. But I fear for their future.

Prepare for socialism and all that comes with it.

Guru, your first post on this thread says it all!!!! Have you been reading my mind??? In answer to why do only 33% of American's vote, that's because the other 67% are either convicted felons or illeagal aliens! :banghead: I spent some time yesterday working on my taxes and am frustrated beyond belief!!!! :cry: I work hard, earn decent money and don't have any crack babies to claim, so not only will I NOT get the "great tax 'rebate'" check that most people will get, I will also be paying a sickening amount of money to support the welfare addicts and low life sorry suckers who live to free load off the backs of hard working people. I have no problem with "helping" people in need who are helping themselves, but I seriously think that we should do away with the "crazy" checks and put a one year lifetime term limit on welfare and if someone on welfare has a kid, they don't get more welfare money for having the kid. It is really, really a sick and screwed up world that we live in, but I am thankful to read the posts on here and know that I am not fighting the battle alone... There are good people left in this world and it would be nice if everyone stood up for what is right! :bouncy:

As if it wasn't already bad enough, just wait 'til all the "hard workers doing the jobs Americans just don't want to do" figure out that they can get paid for doing nothing.

These folks would not want me on a panel to decide who should or should not get help. I was in nursing for a long time, 20+ years and I saw enough stuff to know that 85% of these folks don't need to be given handouts. If I had half of the nice things that a lot of these folks have, I'd be in heaven. I've worked hard all my life, I like to help people in need as long as they are helping themselves but I do believe that if all these women folks having all these babies to collect more money have that much time to scr@w around then they've got enough time to work. :smash:

With the computer systems that are available and used I don't understand how so many folks use SS #'s that belong to dead folks or don't exist at all. Is it so hard to keep track? I don't think it is- I think it is often people collecting a paycheck for little to no work making the workload for the honest workers extremely difficult and lacking in time to follow through. If you don't produce, get the he!! out and let someone else do the job.:banghead:

One presidential candidate in particular scares me....I'm afraid he very well might be our next president mainly because it is the minorities that will be getting out and voting!
