Well, I've heard that a lot of people say that Gander Mountain is overpriced. I've also heard that Gander Mountain has a price guarantee. This had to be proven to me. For some time I've been looking at the Old Town 147 Guide Canoe that is advertized at $449.00 at Academy Sporting Goods. When I went to Gander Mountain I saw they had the same canoe but it had a $549.99 price tag. The MSRP was $599.99. Well, I printed the fact sheet from Academy and off to Gander Mountain I went. When I walked through the door, the first thing I asked was "Do you have a manager on duty?" they quickly summoned the manager, and I asked him: "Do you have a price guarantee?" He assured me they did, and when I showed him my print out, like that < snap > he sold me the canoe at the other store's advertized price. I got $100.99 in savings. Say what you want about Gander Mountain, but they do honor their guarantees!

That's what it will take to get them in line with their competitors.............I bet when they replace that canoe it will have a new price on it.

Probably not, RG. They will sell the next 3 to suckers who don't know about the price match and make up the difference!!!

Old technique like Winn-Dixie. If you have the card my friend, this ribeye steak is $7. If you don't, it is $10. They will give you the $7 card price instantly if you ask, but think of the dumbasses too shy to ask.

PriceLine.com? Its the new wave way of marketing - back to negotiating.
When I bought my new HD LCD, I surfed the net for the lowest price, then contacted the closest and negotiated an even better price. Saved almost 25% net over any of the local boxes, even after paying $200 UPS freight.
Big box retailers have a rough row to hoe if they don't adapt price match, quickly.
