I like the new artwork for a change. I didn't really care for the magnolia.
How about soliciting artwork and photography from YH members? I know we've got some good amateur artists and photographers out there. Anyone who wanted could submit 1 photo or sample of art and the admins could select a photo to feature on a regular basis.
The art could be supplied by resident members of YH! Just an idea - I know we've got good photographers and artists out there. This might be a good way to highlight their work by featuring it on the main page!

LOL, we were wondering when someone would pick up on this concept. Any graphic art will get old after awhile. We thought it may be an interesting experiment to use that space as our art gallery wall and change it from time to time. Hattiesburg is rich in the arts and we think we should play that resource to our advantage, giving exposure to our local artists while creating a niche for this website.
Using suitable artworks of area artists is what we have in mind. It would keep our site interesting and fresh.
We invite local artists to submit an image of their work and give a brief synopsis of themselves and their work. Submittals may be sent to dogill@bellsouth.net in gif or jpg format, or graphic images may be posted in the Arts Section of this forum for possible capture and use with the artist's permission and blessing.
Thanks for understanding that this site is evolutionary in its own right and not subject to the constraints of what's considered "HIP" or "MANDATORY" in today's cyber media world to be successful.

I love the idea Hawk. Our magazine, South Mississippi Scene, is featuring the photography of Samantha Doherty in its Early Spring Edition. Samantha is the wife of our own Rob Doherty - and she's good!
I think you're on to something. The area is filled with great amateur artists - let's feature them!

Some people might have to clear there cookies for it to take affect, my ie browser saved all of the images and it still showed the magnolia so if some people dont clear the cookies for this site they might not see the other flower art.

I love looking at art...I'll spend hours walking around at festivals just looking at paintings...I have several paintings from local artists hanging in my house...I think it's a very good idea...

It would be nice for there to be a place for the artist to describe their piece (pieces) if they are to put them up for everyone to see. Is there a way to do that under the area where the front page art is displayed or a way to make a sticky post at the very top for such a thing? Great Idea! Now I gotta get off my arse and do something to show you guys!

I think we could cover that in the Art Section with "Featured Artist" Sticky. It would be nice if one could click on the art piece itself and link to the story behind it but I have no clue if that is doable at this time.
Looking forward to your presentation.
