Here's the deal,I have two ponds that are completely over-run with bream.
They were fully stocked with cat-fish before Katrina came through, but when the heifer did come through the pressure or whatever killed all my cat-fish.
I'd like to catch all the bream I possibly can out of there before I restock it with cat-fish.Does anybody care enough about bream to come catch a few.
You have to keep whatever you catch though.
We'll have to do this in a month or so.

Dude, I am game...let's catch a bunch and clean em' and drink beer and fry em' at your place.

Is there anyway I could sein out about 2 or 3 hundred small ones and trans plant them to my pond? I have a sein.

hell, I wouldn't mind having a thousand to transplant....You know you could start transplanting bass and in a couple of years you would have them under control.....

True Story....

A friend of mine had a pond that was approximately 5 years old. When they bought the place they had the pond built for livestock purposes mainly. It was about 1 acre. One day just for the heck of it we went down there and fished for a few minutes and we caught 1 bream after another...they were all like 4 inches long.....So I went and got my cast net and started casting. First cast in a corner I netted about 30 of em' anywhere from 1 to 3 inches I kept casting.....I kept catching...anywhere by the bank and you could catch a enough to run a line in 3 cast.....So we went and caught about 10 bass from behind here and hauled em' over there and dropped em' in....Then we forgot about it. When we put the bass in they were about a pound apiece. 3 years later I got a phone call. He had went down their and made 2 cast and had 2 five pounders.......The bream were alot fewer but they had grown to about the size of your hand.

I'm game as long as they're biting. Has to be sunny and warm though. :bouncy: I've been known to catch a few bream, ask Hawkeye, he had to clean them all. :D

How big are the ponds Fotno? The easiest thing might be rotnone if you really wanna get them gone, after everybody has had a chance to catch what they want. The most natural thing would be to stock 50 bass per surface acre of water and they would balance it out. Most ponds can support 250 bream per acre for initial stocking, 50 bass, and 50 channel catfish per acre. If you put tires in the pond, the catfish will brood in them, but I find 30 gallon drums with a 6 inch hole cut in the top, swirled to remove air and pointed out toward the lake in waste deep water is the best brood set up for catfish. The Catfish and Bass can go in at the same time, and you prolly need to set up some feeders for the Cats and Bream....the Bass will do what they do best.

I am going to Rotnone it.I just wanted to give folks a chance to do some fishing.

One of the ponds has always been a cat-fish pond, the other was kind of a mix between bass, bream, crappie, and cat-fish.

Y'all can come for the Rotnone ceremony too.LOL

If you don't have at least 200 acres don't add crappie to the fishery for a general rule.

The crappie got there by accident.

They're only a couple acres a piece, but if we get tired of fishing in the ponds we can always go do some extreme fishing on the creek behind the house.

FishBait has a motive here. He is trying to scare us off with pictures of snakes. Shame on you. I could've gone all day without that thought. lol

I'm respectful of them when I move them. That is a great close up, I'm figuring a telephoto lense of 250 to 600 mm was used to get that shot. The eliptical pupils show up great.

My idea of moving a snake is a 7.64 x 54 mm.
Yep, I said 54.
