Guess 10! (Week One)

Judging by the popularity of the "Name that Place!" thread, I'd say we have some members who might be interested in a more involved game. I went to downtown Hattiesburg this afternoon and snapped a bunch of photos. I've selected ten of them for this game. Your job is to tell me the subject of these photos. Some are easy, some are difficult. All can be found in downtown, though. The game will end on Saturday, June 28th, at noon. You may discuss it here, or keep your guesses to yourself. Your submission MUST be posted in this thread prior to noon on the 28th, though.

The winner will receive their choice of a 5"x7" print of any photo taken by me in this thread or the "Name that Place!" thread.

I know that there are only a couple of post regularly on the other thread, but I'm asking everyone on the forum to take a stab at this one. Go visit downtown, walk around, and discover things that you've never seen or may have forgotten...

Since I don't get to make many trips to "downtown" Hattiesburg...Can you be a little more specific as to what you consider downtown? like give us boundaries...
please..do you mean "Historic" downtown? Can you give us a block/off radius...

ex: boundaries are from N....S....E....W of the streets ...
I need some help, since I don't LIVE near Hattiesburg...sorry for being a pain, but otherwise, I will have to sit this one out...

ok- i was with somisstv and got some pics also, but it's his turn- i think i have enuf to do round 2

the best way to tell you boundaries without giving things away-

the area starting at trustmark nat'l bank, economy supply, southbound bagel shop, coney island, as east as sacred heart, and southwest as CMB financial

also a clue would be that we parked in downtown, and walked about 7-8 blocks. no driving around-

I was born and raised in Poplarville, and now live about 15 miles from the Burg...so I might need a little help on here...

I found this...

The Ross Building
207 E. Front Street
Built in 1907, this five-story corner building with round-arch corner entrances is embellished with cast iron cornices with dentils and pillar capitals composed of geometric Wright/Prairie style motifs. The building is being renovated for office space and other uses...so...could someone check this out if I don't get there!!! At least we can either validate or null & void it! Thanks!

These were the correct locations. Congratulations! Tell us how you found them all. I've noticed that it was a team effort (which will complicate the prize awarding).

once we had the "boundaries"...and thanks by the way....we had everyone make suggestions...I checked "online" the addresses of the suggestions and made sure they were within the boundaries....then Katz and CRawls actually went to the locations and verified these were indeed the ones...we had pretty much gotten the first 10 before they went...2 of those were incorrect, but they found them! They deserve the prize!!!
I have your pictures on my computer....I won't ever print them out, but I will look at them! *grin*
