I've been pondering getting a used, old dual-sport motorbike. Like a Kawasaki KLR or Honda XR650, etc.? Does anyone have any advice on such matters?

He's talking about a different type of bike.

I'd go with a 4 stroke engine, make sure the seat is wide and comfy and that you can tag it.
The Yamaha shop in Laurel may be your ticket, they used to have lots of nice used bikes. The newer bikes will break a bank.

I know somebody that bought one of the new Yamahas and I like the bike, a lot. Be prepared to spend at least $3500 on a new bike though.

I have a friend who wants to sell a 250 Ninja with less than 3000 miles on it. PM me if you're interested.

Sounds like he's looking for something like an enduro...

What kind of bike is it? Manufacturer? Series? 4 stroke engine?

Yeah, I've heard them called enduro's, dual-sports, etc. That's what I'm talking about. Something that is 'street legal' and can do some off-roading.

My cousins have I don't know how many hundreds of acres out here leased from a timber company for hunting and biking plus all the other power lines and pipelines I used to also ride when growing up.

I saw the new version of what used to be the Yamaha TT. Built kind of like the bikes used to be and not 6' at seat level with a 2 x 4 to sit on. Very comfortable, 4 stroke pump gas, you can tag it. I bet I could ride the Longleaf Trace without being apprehended.
