Dude.
So I finally broke down and picked up a pair of Sony MDR-7506 headphones today. First, I direct your attention to the packaging:

Any pair of headphones packaged on a silk bed must be worth their salt, right? I wasted no time in slipping them on, plugged into the headphone jack of my Mac Book Pro. Listening to music is an entirely new experience. I've been using a cheap set of Sony earbuds for listening, as they're low in ear fatigue and are easy to carry. However, these Sonys are quite comfortable (though slightly larger):

But enough about aesthetics, let's talk about sound.
Simply amazing. There's a reason that these are the de facto standard for location work for video and film; they're rugged and boast amazing sound quality representation. It's almost like listening to entirely new music. I'm hearing low and high end nuances that were never present before. Music is fuller and richer, and these things really put out. The closed-ear design also does an exceptional job of blocking our extraneous sound; I cannot hear myself type right now. In short, these headphones are nothing short of incredible.
Of course, the price may put them out of range of the casual listener. Though not the most expensive (by far) on the market, the $99 price tag will cause some people to cringe. Nevertheless, if you're looking for a high-quality pair of headphones that will faithfully reproduce music the way it was meant to be heard, while being rugged enough to withstand the rigors of everyday life, then I wholeheartedly recommend the Sony MDR-7506 Professional Stereo Headphones.
