You bought an audio-video receiver a couple of years ago, and now you're wondering whether it's time to trade up and get a model that features Dolby and DTS' new lossless codecs, TrueHD and Master Audio, respectively.

I bought, what I consider to be,a very nice Harmon\Kardon receiver not to long ago that was a little pricey.I personally don't see any reason to run out and by the next big thing.Especially when most experts can't really tell the difference between the two.

I'm what I used to call a musician, at least to a very amateur extent but been on the stage a few times.
Audio equipment to me has some peculiarities per equipment which I can allow is a higher shelf item than others but unless it's a real 3rd world country edition most of them are ok.

What I did find out after the TV guy visited my Mother's house yesterday was something very similar in Video equipment, aka TV's.
Should have put this in a TV thread or something but the similarity is astounding when I opened the thread here.
She has 2 relatively new TV sets, new since Christmas at least.
The little 13" set in her bedroom has more digital abilities than the large set in her den.
Makes me think, according to the TV guy that was here yesterday and we have known since he was in diapers, that she may indeed need an extra box for the set in the den although it is supposed to be a digital TV and does receive signals.

Personally I'm not going to go out and buy for me, might for her, but for me I won't just jump on this week's deal just because it is new.

You know how ears are. Very subjective. The more money you spend, the better you percieve the sound! (Justifies the outlay!). He also spent $130.00 on high end cable and gold plated connectors. This was just for the speakers! Not every other connection. Yet...
