I think I may do a break-in-schedule today and go phone shopping some.
I've been using Cingular for the last 5 years or so and our service out here is just not to par in my opinion.
AT&T came in, some things got better for awhile and then they get worse for awhile.
Somebody told me a couple of weeks ago that the new towers they had put up were turned around to another area and that is why they got bad again.

Anywho, I was told if I upgraded from my old stick phone, a good Nokia, to a newer flip phone or something newer anyway, that my service would get better.
They said it had worked with their phone company.

I called the folks in Magee and was told that the same technology in my phone was the same technology in the new phones.
So now I'm not sure.
I do think I want to hear it from the bigger store in Hattiesburg.

I am still leaning toward trying Alltel again. The last time I tested one of theirs I talked on a phone in places I had never been able to use a cell phone before.
Last night I heard from someone in Mize that Alltel was not good but they were not sure if it was the actual phones of the people that had complained or it was Alltel itself.

Your thoughts?

I have to use Cellular South in my area, but they have a limited choice when it comes to phones.
My Nokia bar phone finally died and I purchased a new Motorola bar phone.I couldn't own a flip phone.I'm too hard on them.

Cellular south is what I have. And I believe it works out there in God's country too.

We have service with Cellular South and have no problems were we live in the country. When my parents come to visit thier cell phone service stops at the main road and they have Alltell.

I have a personal phone via AT&T, and there are areas I can't get service.

I have a work cell phone via Cellular South, and I am able to use it more in no man's land, but there are still place in no man's land that even Cell South doesn't reach.

I also know that Cell South was up and running within 24 hours of Katrina as well. If I were going to change services, personally, I'd go with CS.

Yeah, I have heard good things from Cellular South lately.
I also used to have Cellular South, had them for about 5 years and the service got worse and worse the whole time I had them.
Maybe if enough people finally left they got the message. Too little too late. That is why I am reluctant to go with them again.
I once had to drive 150 miles to get a message out of my phone. That was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I've got Nextel/Motorola phone with GPS...except it doesn't locate geocaching....

ESPECIALLY if it's NOT THERE......

I used to be a Cell South customer, and at the time they had the absolute poorest customer service reps, both in store, and on the phone, that's why I left them.

I'm happy with AT&T, but it doesn't get good reception out your way, but if I remember correctly, Cell South doesn't either.

Since I didn't know HOW to use the GPS...I turned my phone over to the infamous KATZ who of course knows EVERYTHING....and only talked on it to ask my husband if he could come get me and carry me to my truck!!!!

 these are not tears...they are overactive glisten glands....

I got a neighbor that has T-Mobile. They btch and complain about them all the time although the service seems to be pretty good.
The biggest problem they seem to have with them is that their phones just quit working sometimes. Not sure if it is the bill paying or something within the system. They say they pay their bills.

what you need to do is come get michelle's phone and all the software and cables that we have, hook it up to your PC, and check out the internet capabilities as well as the service at the house.

that way you could atleast get somewhat faster than dialup PLUS excellent cell service thru alltel.
