U.S. stocks trim gains on Freddie, Fannie downgrade

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- U.S. stocks on Friday pared gains after Standard & Poor's Rating Services put mortgage buyers Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on CreditWatch Negative, dimming cheer over crude's decline and upbeat economic data. After lapsing into negative turf, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was up 7 points at 11,356. The S&P 500 climbed 2 points to 1,255, and the Nasdaq Composite gained 21 points to 2,301.
