Judge dismisses juror from Bratz trial: report

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- A federal judge dismissed a juror from a trial pitting Mattel Inc. against MGA Entertainment Inc. over intellectual property rights involving the popular Bratz doll, The Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition late Friday. The juror was dismissed for making an inappropriate ethnic comment against MGA Chief Executive Isaac Larian during deliberations, the newspaper said. Larian is Jewish and an Iranian immigrant. Following the dismissal, MGA asked the judge for a mistrial. The motion is scheduled to be heard on Aug. 4, the Journal reported.
