if your into just tinkering around with stuff, and into automotive "history" than you know how barry's u pull it is in gulfport-

me and 2 buddies are heading down tomorrow probably right after church to go check out some parts for an accord and a camry. if we don't find much there, we may just head over to mobile to the other location to see what we can see.

if you don't know what barrys is, it's basically a large junk yard that is decently clean. they have crushed rock all over that supports the cars that are indecently sitting up on old steel rims. and then you go nuts- pay $1 to get in, grab one of their wheelbarrows, take in your bag of tools, and pull all your own parts. where a salvage yard here in h'burg charges you $150 for a hood for instance, you can buy a new used hood down there for $50. even can get engines down there for $140 regardless what type of engine it is-

i'm going to get pics for sure since barry's is one of my favorite places to go-

I need a truck bed for a 1970 Short wheel base, step side pick-up. Needs the spare tire indention on the left fender.
Needs to be relatively rust free. I know, that's a lot to ask.
If you read this before you go just keep your eyes peeled if you can.
Thanks.

What happened? Couldn't get all the Nissans in one frame?

wonder how many are Katrina cars

believe it or not, not many, if any. those cars from katrina were mostly crushed and recycled. the newer ones were sold to more prominent salvage yards (i.e. lamar auto salvage, petal auto parts)

the most, if not all the cars did have their wheels and tires removed before processing, simply because of either the aluminum alloys or steels for recycling and the tires sold as used tires at those mom and pop tire stores all around the area

barry's usually gets cars that were abandoned, or sold to their yard that were either running or not. then people salvage what they can.

CSG, now don't laugh! But why are the tires sideways? And not on the cars?

actually, i could have. but the thing was i was trying to show the fords, but there was only 42 rows of them. i know because we walked them looking for rangers.

basically they take the wheels and tires off the car, then actually set the car on the rims to keep them up off the ground.

BTW- 2 fenders, front bumper, and all the marker and head lamps for that camry was $93 including tax.

no luck on honda accords- they only had one that was a 01, and it was a coupe. but i did get the trim ring that went around the radio that has a the factory woodgrain to replace the ugly black one in my car- and it will match the area around the gear shifter

and i failed to mention, but the pic where my friend is looking into a car, is actually a pathfinder that was either flipped or involved in a major accident. there was blood all over the seats-

no- about 50. i've just been interested in those CVCC civics- wish i had the time and money to restore one of those cars-

and i saw only 1 old old truck- took a pic of it with my phone- but i don't think it was anything close to what you were looking for guru-

Guru...you need to hop on your bike and take a nice slow ride through the backroads look'n for a truck like that. I forget how much it costs to have shempers come get a vehicle off your property now but lots of people aren't going to pay to have that done. There are lots of cars and trucks just sit'n around out in the country.
