Spectrum Brands rejects Energizer's patent allegations

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Spectrum Brands on Monday rejected allegations by Energizer and Eveready Battery Co. that its Rayovac Lithium batteries infringe two of Energizer's U.S. patents and said it will vigorously defend itself against the lawsuit. Energizer and Eveready had filed a complaint with the U.S. District Court Western District of Wisconsin against Spectrum Brands, seeking damages and a permanent injunction against future infringing activity. Sales of lithium batteries are not expected to have an impact on Spectrum's financial results in 2008 and 2009.
