Teachers in Petal will attend the first Petal School District Technology Summit on July 30-31 at Petal High School.

The summit will provide hands-on technology labs for teachers to participate in. The purpose is to keep teachers trained on the current types of technology to enhance instruction in the classroom, according to a press release from the school district.
Alan November, senior partner for November Learning of Boston, will be the keynote speaker for the conference.

Additional sessions will be led by presenters from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, NASA, Cisco, Public Broadcasting System/Discovery Channel, Schoolwires and Digital Opportunity Trust.

The summit is funded in part by a grant from Cisco.

They need it. When I was their, we had DOS on the pc's in the computer lab. All the computers were networked together. I knew how to send 'messages' to other 'nodes' on the network. So, we'd be sitting in class and I would send a message to one of my buddies sitting at a computer on the other side of the room. The teacher never knew it, and didn't know how to, once I pointed it out to her. It was funny, cuz I'd send her one while she was sitting at her computer (the teacher), and she'd be like,"Who's doing this?!?!?!!?"
This was llloooong before IM came on the scene.

Aaaahhhhh....those were the days.....
