Mervyn's may file for bankruptcy in 'next few days': report

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Mervyn's LLC is telling creditors the department store chain will file for bankruptcy protection in the "next few days" unless it sees a last-minute cash infusion, according to a report late Monday in the online edition of The Wall Street Journal. The Journal reported that closely-held Mervyn's has lost key funding from financing companies, adding that a bankruptcy filing from the chain would follow others from fellow retailers Steve & Barry's LLC and Linens n' Things earlier this year.
