“Run faithfully. Run safely. If you fall down, stay down.”
That was the message Phillip Sandifer heard in the early morning hours of July 13 as he prepared to run with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain.
The message was broadcast in five languages from loud speakers shortly before the start of the 8 a.m. run.
Running with the bulls is a time-honored tradition in Pamplona. It was Sandifer’s friend, Lane Rush of Meridian, who lured him there and talked him into throwing caution to the wind.
Sandifer graduated from Pillow Academy in 2004. He recently graduated from the University of Mississippi in Oxford, where he received a bachelor’s degree in psychology, and he will begin medical school at the University of Mississippi this fall.
