For the moment, the only team Brett Favre is quarterbacking is the high school team just up the road from his house.

The longtime Green Bay Packers star has been working out with the Oak Grove High School team three mornings a week through the summer, as he has the past two years.
In the past, though, Favre has been preparing for another season of play. But after a full day of negotiations Wednesday between the Packers and Favre’s agent, Hattiesburg lawyer Bus Cook, it appears that the only passes Favre will be throwing will have Warriors as targets.

“He would love to go back to Green Bay,” Cook said after meeting with Packers president Mark Murphy. “Right now, however, it looks like he’ll be the quarterback at Oak Grove High School.”

Favre sent his official notice for reinstatement to the National Football League on Tuesday, but the league has not acted on it, saying it wants, “to give the Packers and Brett an appropriate time to make decisions.”

However, Cook said he expects the NFL to reinstate Favre within a day or two, and he said Favre will very likely report to the Packers camp at the earliest opportunity.

“As soon as the commissioner reinstates him, he’ll be a Green Bay Packer,” Cook said.

Murphy had no comment to reporters following Wednesday’s meeting, but he did issue a statement to the Green Bay Press-Gazette upon his return to Wisconsin.

“We discussed a number of topics not related to football, including Brett’s long-term relationship with the Packers,” Murphy said. “I consider our conversation to be confidential and am going to be respectful of Brett and his family and keep the details private.”
