University of Southern Mississippi head football coach Larry Fedora revved up the Hattiesburg’s business community when he gave a talk about the upcoming season at the Area Development Partnership’s First Friday meeting this morning.
Fedora didn’t concentrate on the game schedule so much as the amount of work the Golden Eagles completed over the summer and the grueling training regimen they will endure before they face off with Louisiana-Lafayette in the season opener Aug. 30.
“You come to see the Golden Eagles play, not the opposing team,” Fedora said. “It doesn’t matter whether we’re playing the Little Sisters of the Poor, you come out to see our guys perform.”
That focus on the game instead of the opposition is something that Fedora also hopes to impart to the Golden Eagles.
“We don’t care about who or when we play, or whether we play on asphalt or grass,” Fedora said. “We are here to play football, and we play football one way– hard, aggressive and attacking with our offense all the time.”
