JACKSON - Mississippi Medicaid officials have rescinded $375 million in proposed cuts for the federal-state health insurance program as Gov. Haley Barbour prepares to unveil a new plan to address the program's funding woes.

First thing they need are some good investigators to catch all the folks that are receiving benefits under multiple names.

I hope it's better than his last plan.

Being that he won't be able to seek another term of office and thereby staying meek to get re-elected maybe this plan will have long and sharp teeth.

It'd be nice for once if those that don't need or deserve medicaid get cut off, and those that do, still receive benefits.

The reason Barber backed off the cuts isn't because he's come up with some miraculous new solution, it's because the Hospital Association sued and won. A judge has ruled that he cannot cut services. Barber is an evil sack of crap! Sorry, I meant he's a politician.

I have to be honest with you,I really can't tell the difference between the two.

This would be a good time to correct some things in this state.
Cut those that are just riding the bus and could contribute like the rest of us.
Get better pay for civil servants. You get what you pay for and to attract and keep the good ones we can do better.
Get off the old folks backs. They have paid their dues. They ought to be living on easy street now.

The special session ended with no solution to the Medicare issue. But, since Barber can't cut everything in sight, this will all be revisted in the next regular session, where Phil Bryant will no longer have the ability to block an attempt at a cigarette tax. This is actually what the MHA was hoping for, so it could be good in the end. But with the losers in our legislature, I'm sure they'll find a way to screw it all up.
