Pooker have you gone to a dermatologist yet? They can give you some medicine that is far better than OTC creams.

Get a little sun every now and then will help. You'll prolly have it till you are in your late 20's though unless you go see a dermatologist. Acne is bacterial from what I understand.

With two teenage daughters, here's the scoop:
They tried everything otc, including Pro Active. Some would work for some time, but none cleared it totally. The solution was prescription duac, a topical antibiotic from the dermatologist.

Yeah I thought I would try some different stuff first before I went to a dermo, didnt want to spend the money :p. I have never had acne until like a year or a little more ago. I never had the problem before, I never used any face cleaner and now its like I have to be careful about breaking out. Whats that word? Protagonist thats what I am. :) Duac huh though? I will call about that.

I had a daughter that had acne bad!!! We went through all the Walmart stuff and ended up at the dermotologist. After a year and half of changing prescriptions(nothing worked) I finally got her "Kleer Action" at walgreens. It's pretty much the same thing as Pro-Active. It cleared her face up in less than a week. ONly thing now though, if she goes a couple of days without using it she'll break out.

Sorry for the little poke there pooker, NOT! :D I couldn't resist. But really, how's your eyesight?
I tell you de truff. It is sad but true that Acne is just in some folks DNA. It shor was in mine and hell I still get pimple every now and then at 60 years old. My momma spent a fortune on me at the dermatologists when I was in my mid and late teens. Looking back to those days, I remember there were some things that did and did not help.
Don'ts
Don't eat fatty, greasy foods and dairy products including chocolate.
Don't worry about it, stress aggravates acne.
don't pinch and squeeze/ just makes it worse and can leave worse scars.
Do's
Do scrub the affected areas and use an astringent to deep clean pores. You can use Lava soap for scrubbing and Witch Hazel for astringent.
Do get a little sunlight on affected areas every day but not too much. Fifteen to 20 minutes of direct sunlight exposure each day is plenty.
Use hot sulphur compresses on effected areas once or twice per day.
Note regard sulphur compresses: As I recall, I got this from drug store with RX prescription. I don't remember what name it went under but it was basically a certain concentration of powdered Hydrogen Sulfide (sulphur). I had to heat water in a saucepan to very hot/so hot you could barely stand to touch it. In this I would soak a thick cloth and hold the compress to my face for 15-20 minutes per session, re-soaking the cloth each time it cooled off. Warning; this stuff stinks while you're doing it/ smells like rotten eggs. But the stink doesn't stay on your face once the moisture evaporates.
Some old remedies work but drug companies can't profit from it like they can their new patents so you don't hear about them. I'd ask a pharmacist if this sulphur compound for use in compresses still exists.

Alright thanks for the advice peachykeen and hawkeye I am definately going to try that. Also no offense taken, seeing as I have no idea what pounding the pud means. Isn't it beautiful though? The miraculous wonders of human nature are turning me into a hideously disfigured man, LOL.

Pooker, also change your pillowcase often -- the consolation is, if you have fairly oily skin now, you've have fewer wrinkles when you get older!
Another thing is, especially since you're just now getting acne, make sure it's not allergy to a food or soap. Years ago when I switched from real cola to diet, my skin immediately got better. Even at my age, more than one or two real colas affect my skin.

Its strange that you mention that hermione because it feels like my skin is only really irritated after a shower. I never understood what a water softener was for but I think I know now. I changed shampoo and my grandma says my face cleared up as well. I might try a new soap , it was kind of an onset, I still can't really grow facial hair but I noticed when I started getting peach fuzz and elvis sideburns (yes gangster lol) that , that is when it started.

That's what my daughter's dermotologist recommend she use too.
Try that Kleer Action first before you go the doc and see if it helps you.

The more perfume smelling the product, the more the likelihood for it to cause an adverse effect on your skin, itching, etc.
Go Hypo-Allergenic with body washes, clothes washing soaps, stay away from that Axe smell mess and no cologne unless you just give a lite spray at your clothing after you put them on and lay off the after shaves.
If you have to use a regular razor, use cold water and ease up on the pressure.
Fats and grease in your diet is like throwing gasoline on a fire.
After some hard perspiring work, take a shower at the first opportunity or at least wash your face until you can.
Catching some Sun opens your pours and inhibits them becoming blocked.
Biggest thing:
Stop pounding the pud.
Sorry.
Couldn't help it.
You know we love you.

Best cure that I've found is giving up junk food and drinking lots and lots of water. Greasy, fatty foods will break me out within a few hours, but if I go 2-3 days of NO junk food, just "clean" foods like fresh veggies, lean meats, and whole grains plus 8-10 glasses of water a day...my skin will be smooth and breakout free. (Plus I lost weight changing my diet in this way!) :D

Dude, like Kellie said, lay off da junk food and high sodium stuff, too, like ramen noodles. I know you dig 'em. Drink a lot of water, eat a lot of veggies, and eat lean meat items like sirlion instead of ribeye, eat lean ground beef instead of regular. Also, try a detox plan and stick with the diet recommended. I did a detox before my hike last spring and it helped somewhat.
