Kappi Allen is manager of the Coahoma County Tourism Commission. Allen says Clarksdale is on the minds of tourists from all over the globe perhaps more than any other city in Mississippi.
According to Allen, not only are increasing numbers of visitors coming to Coahoma County each year for music festivals, but they are also staying for longer periods of time.
“We are already seeing great numbers of tourists come in. This is not something people just come in for on a Friday and leave on a Sunday. Many make this a week long festival,” Allen said.
Given the fact this weekend’s event is free –– a rarity in the modern day music world –– Allen stresses the vital importance of the volunteers committed to it’s success.
