Visitors from Omaha, Nebraska to East Berlin have stopped us on the street to say what a wonderful time they were having in Clarksdale at the Sunflower River Blues and Gospel Festival.
Not only has our 21st festival lived up to its billing in USA Weekend as one of America’s Top 10 places to hear authentic music, the citizens of Clarksdale have become international ambassadors to the world and have played a large part in this success.
Many thanks to all who welcomed our visitors, sold t-shirts, beverages, and took on infinite tasks needed to stage Mississippi’s largest blues and gospel festival.
Special thanks go out to our sponsors for underwriting the paychecks for our performers, sound and lighting engineers, and production costs; to our community partners for their generous support, and especially our hard-working members who work 12 months each year to make this possible and to keep it free.
The complete list of our contributors is being posted on our Web page, www.sunflowerfest.org.
It’s been exciting and fun, and we’re planning to do it all over again. The 22nd festival is August 7-8-9, 2009. See you soon.
