Here's what I'm looking at @ Burton's Computers.
Intel Pentium Dual Core 2.2 processor
2 gig ram paying xtra for this
Nvida GForce with 256 ram paying xtra for this
CD/DVD burner
Gig hard drive
and other stuff I forgot cause I had company and the total which is $1,16.45 this is the computer and not monitor. No name brand built to my specification and their recommendations. Oh and with Vista or I might just get another XP on it...still thinking on that.
So what y'all think?

Not being mean but that does not say much honey
What is your fsb speeds? Ram speeds? What kind of Gforce graphics cards there is a ton. Why are you paying extra for 256? Thats like the defacto standard for video cards today, was it originally a card that had 128? Are you planning on doing alot of gaming? How much hard drive space? Hard drive speeds, sata or pata? What are the rest of the system speeds? Is it a dual channel board? At that price I would want more than two gigs, if we know the board we can know if its a board that supports single 2 gig ram.
More specs, but 1,160.45 is a crap load for a desktop I would never pay that much. Just being honest, I have built 6(?) computers know, hard to remember. My aunt has one a built in tulsa, a friend in philadelphia has one I built and I sold some on ebay and I have two computers here that I built. I still have use my favorite that I have had for going on four years now I suppose.
I would help you walk through building a computer just for the sake of saving you hundreds of dollars, not to be mean to computer companies but everyone I have been to charges a crap load. Its not that big of a talent building a computer either nothing that requires major skill.

Shot out of the saddle? Wow didn't know I was riding too high. It is after all a mans world isn't it?...Guess I'll come down off that smart "ass" and get Pookie to build me a PC for cheaper.
I haven't looked at Computer stuff in over 5 years...so I'm not on the up and up as to whats out there and the prices. We were on the phone when company came in so we weren't really finished and most I forgot...but were in no way done...he is off till Tuesday and I'm to get back then.
That is why I asked "what yall think?"

I would be glad to help Eye, all I am saying is for that price you could build an extravegantly balla system. Keep this in mind also Eye, dual core might seem alluring, but realise the hardware side of a computer doesn't magically now when to use that second core. The software has to tell it to use what and when, that is the reason the p4's seem like they are faster than the dual core because there is really no software out that tells the computer how multi process.
The Mother of Motherboards eyescene  I bet they are not using anything near this bad in your setup supports up to 32 mb of ram :droolsharder:

Eye-
i believe i could build that same system for about $600 using an intel MOBO-
and if your case and other parts are still good, you could recycle most everything in your old PC-
the thing is that burton is a big flashy outlet that has to make money on the retail end. my buddy that owns another place in town has a small spot, but sells nothing but the best- and he's real honest.
on that note, he recommeded an intel MOBO for my PC, and i bought it. that was 5 years ago and it had SATA drive hookups before any other MOBO on the market for the same money-
and my PC runs just as fast as a dual core or the new core 2 duo PC's that are out there that i have seen-

oh, and i have 700MB of ram- no gigs here except for the 150gb SATA drive-

This is getting interesting...so who is he and where is he? I've always had Intel MOBO's. Except for my laptop, which has the AMD Athlon 64 bit processor. It runs really good.

Why I decided not to get a Mac....
9 pin serial port
I already own a Flat screen
Pre-owned expensive software, I can't give up...they do make Mac compatible
Burton's and I discussed this the whys and why nots for me and they agree it is not feasible for me. And other I don't have money to throw away.

I know this for a fact - we've used Macs in the newspaper and magazine business for nearly 15 years - best graphics ability. My niece has also used our macs to make movies --- much, much simpler than using a PC -- better quality too. LOVE MACS!!

Premiere totally sucks.
If you're going to edit video on a PC, take a look at SpeedEDIT from Newtek (http://www.newtek.com/speededit/). This is what I use for editing. It's a fairly simple learning curve, and I'd be happy to get you started.

Final Cut Pro has a decent learning curve, and will set you back over $1000. SpeedEDIT has a smaller learning curve and is half the cost.
