Contraflow traffic backs up along Interstate 55 near the Robb Street Bridge, in Summit, as thousands flee New Orleans and other parts of southeast Louisiana and head north Sunday morning.
Contraflow is the new procedure of allowing all 4 lanes of an interstate highway to be utilized to evacuate traffic from a storm area. All traffic will be egressing the storm area with no traffic allowed to access the area.
