I'll be there the Thursday through the final Sunday.

katzeyez

Bp, are you going to be showing a car, or just enjoying the view(s)??

bpitt
September 15th, 2008, 06:41 PM
Nah, I'll be enjoying the views (of the cars). My ride ain't ready, yet. As a matter of fact, it is a lloooonnng way from even being driveable.

T-minus 2 weeks and counting......

We've two friends of the family who have cars they wish to sell, yet can't make it to the show. They're toying with the idea of allowing me and the father-in-law to drive their cars to the show to see if we can get them sold. One is a '67 Chevy truck built for drag racing, the other is a '69 Dodge with a 440 in it. Talk about doing some burnouts at the mall!

bpitt
September 21st, 2008, 04:15 PM
As an aside, the director passed away last weekend. Yet, to his wish, the show will go on. So far, over 3400 cars have registered...yes, 3400. Can you feel the ground beginning to rumble?

bpitt
September 21st, 2008, 04:18 PM
Smell the car polish.....

See the sparkle of a flaked roof.....

Watch out for the flamed fenders......

Hear the squeal of burning rubber....

Smell the nitrous in the air......

See the pile of crap Mustangs limp off the track as the Camaro's pass them by....

Listen to the bands as they play at the many venues...

Get your cruise on.

Here's hoping for some good crisp dry air for the event.
Who knows, maybe the love bugs will be gone by then too.

bpitt
September 21st, 2008, 06:33 PM
I'm already pumped, dude. This is THE one event of the year that I get really excited about. I'm even more excited about CTC (Cruisin' the Coast) than I am the upcoming AC/DC tour, and that says a lot.

I'm worse than a kid at Christmas.

bpitt
September 21st, 2008, 06:36 PM
My father-in-law gets pumped as well. He's already dusting off a SBC 4-bolt main to build, just to get him even more excited about the show and to build something, heck, it ain't like he doesn't have any 'projects'. He's got a 2-door '57 Chevy hardtop, a '56 4-door Chevy, a '78 CJ-5, and a really bad off '57 Chevy 4-door.

He, too, like me, is looking for 'rat-rod' material. So if'n anyone knows where a '20-'50 era truck, lemme know.

I'm gonna supah-detail Traveler II before heading down when the time comes if I can make it. Might even put on some Jesse James hurricane mags before then. Can't decide if I want stainless steel or chrome.
Thought about getting some dull black WW-II stars on the front end of the nose ends of the gas tanks and clear coated over.

Well, being that it's coming up, I figured I'd raise anticipation by posting teaser pic's, here's one for today........

A friend of mine had one, he actually used to live in Dixie before being transferred to Ft. Hood. It was a 1971, I think, in really good condition, but the paint job was awful on that thing.

I had to go to the coast this morning and work at the SeaBee base on something. I saw a CTC poster up welcoming cruiser's at a gas station. So, some are starting to get ready, even though we've got just under a week and a half to go.

I can't wait. I'm all 'giddy'.

bpitt

I'm not sure if I've posted this before somewhere. But, speaking of old cars, we think about old music, classic rock, etc., from the '50's and '60's. Here's a link to some tunage from 'back then'.........

I'll probably head down Friday after work, and cruise a bit to see the cars, I'll already be half way there since I'll be in Wiggins. I love old cars.

Here's my first pic of the week. It was taken with my phone, so it's not great, and I couldn't get a side pic of her, as she was being gassed up. She was a beauty though!! The guy and his wife were on their way to the coast.

I'll be down there Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Me and the father-in-law are planning on sittin' on HWY 90 in the back of the truck and chill and watch cars for a while. We also plan on having our little habachi grill in the back of the truck to grill some dogs and brats whilst we're out there.

not sure yet, alot of people I was gonna go with are tied up until sunday. But I wanted to go before then, because this is my first time and I wasn't sure if there was still stuff happening on sunday. Most likely I am hoping for saturday because I think that will be the best day and monday is school and I dont want to get to tuckered.

bpitt
October 6th, 2008, 09:09 PM
Yeah, it ends at like noon on Sunday. Traditionally, from Thursday to Saturday has been the best. But I gotta tell ya. When we were down there yesterday, the first day of the event, there were a lot of cars already down.

It's freakin' awesome when you can sit in one spot and see cars from all decades go by.

bpitt
October 6th, 2008, 09:10 PM
And motorcycles, there are a crapload of motorcycles riding around.

pooker
October 6th, 2008, 09:11 PM

pooker
October 6th, 2008, 09:15 PM
I saw the signs last year where people were telling fast cars to roast em as they went by, I wanna get me some boiled peanuts while I am down there. You can ride the bike bpitt :D

bpitt
October 6th, 2008, 09:18 PM
We'll have some peanuts, if we haven't eaten them all.

People will hold up signs on the side of the road, 'Beads for Burnouts', etc. You do a burnout, they throw Mardi Gras beads into your window.

There's almost always people doing it right in front of the Edgewater Mall. With people on 'lookout' for da cops, which usually don't say anything anyway.

I've been seeing a steady stream of beautiful rides southward bound on 49, some rolling and some on trailers even in all this rain. Hope they have good weather this weekend.

Nice rides continue to pass my house. I'll drag up a chair this afternoon and just watch. I need to figure out a way to slow them down though so I can get a better look.

Just saw a cherry red 59 chevy coup cruise by sounding and looking good.

I may have to give the old Barthmobile a little road trip Saturday. He becomes a classic himself this coming January.
