OK I Have had Spore over the weekend and while it is fun, it is a huge disappointment as it does not play the way I understood it would...I though after waiting 5 years on this game that it would be more of a life simulation game than it really is. I gave it 2 stars out of 5, as it is fun but so not what they proclaimed it was going to be. Personally I would not have bought this had I had known.

It play a lot like colonies you have to babysit (what game was that by MS) instead of getting to venturing out into the world exploring...nothing like life simulation, cells and mutations. I an not a fan of killing creatures that shake in fear at my mear presents, it makes me feel heartless but in order to domatre their colonies I have too. Some you can befriend but mostly it says I have to kill them in order to move up in my status...you know ruler!!

Do any of you remember a game called Creatures in the 90's...well I thought it was going to be like that in a lot of ways till the creatures mutated into humans and then you had to battle and then on into space...well it isn't. And if you played flOw (http://intihuatani.usc.edu/cloud/flowing/) well that is how Spore starters out...so cheesy.

Freeware now (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file/fid,17080-order,1-page,5/description.html)
I have downloaded the Docking Station again after all these years it still Works even on vista but only in 16 mode but it looks OK! Linux has a version too. Girls love it cause you can raise babies from an egg into adult hood then breed more and morph.

Description of Creatures Docking Station

Creatures Docking Station is a self-contained world with four large rooms where you can raise and train families of Norns--cuddly virtual creatures that grow, learn, and behave just like real animals.

There are food sources, toys, and loads of plants and animals in a working eco-system. Based on real biological principles, Norns think and act for themselves and display feelings such as hunger, pain, fear, and boredom, and can even talk to you and to each other.

You can even go online (I am not sure you can still do this?) and send your creatures to friends in real time.

there is lots more to this game than the download but you will have to find addons yourself...it is old and lots are gone now.

I looked at Spore, they've got it for Nintendo DS and other systems, too. I was thinking about getting it for my kid, but I don't think she'd be interested in it.

Now that I have gotten into the space the age of spore it is starting to become...fun.

I really like games where you have to find things...instead of beating, shooting, and killing things!

Spore is moving up in fun! yay! I'd say we are maybe a 3 right now! I will come back and update when I finish. I don't play it every day though!
