I am going to miss this but I hope you all take advantage of going. This may be the most complete festival that I know of and you will see things there that you just will not see anywhere else and there are things you will not see done the old fashioned way unless you get buzzard lucky.
The festival runs From September 26-28 which will be next Friday, Saturday and Sunday; not this coming weekend.
The website for the event is www.mspecanfestival.com
It's labeled as "The South's Fastest Growing Family Festival" but people from Richton tell me it's been that way all along.
Horse shoe contests, tractor and truck shows, fiddle players, banjo players, other musicians, mule pulls, demonstrations of old time farm equipment actually being used, arts and crafts of the highest caliber, the old farmstead and walk through the log cabins, food you would not imagine, herd dogs contests, my best chicken contests, wheel potters, basket makers, wood and chainsaw carving, knife making, herbalists, quilting, pony rides, train rides, wagon rides, purtiest rooster contest, bake-offs and homeade relishes and honey. The list of things here go on and on.
Don't miss the chance to treat yourself, friends, children and grandchildren to this event.
