And they say this until it is their child, mother, sister, spouse etc.. that is a victim of homicide.

If I had only one argument against the death penalty, it would be the number of people that are found innocent later. Witness the number released after DNA evidence freed them. 20-30 years later. I'm not against it, but i would rather 1000 guilty go free, than kill an innocent person.
The justice system is not foolproof. Need i cite examples?
